The Garden in May

    The hops continue to climb...

We planted some tomatoes in front of the peas.
The spinach is doing very well -- at least the ones that took.
The radishes are ready, as are the carrots in the middle of the plot that over wintered and came up with spring. We also have artichokes, strawberries, and some renegade lettuce that seeded from last season. If you look very closely, you may be able to see the bush beans coming up on the right edge of the bed.
A couple small carrots and radishes from early May...
Lettuce, spinach and radishes from mid-May. Salad days!

Quick Blurb

Been busy. I have a couple posts in the works, but nothing ready because I've been occupied elsewhere. We just got back from a three-day backpacking trip into the Olympic Wilderness and have begun to enjoy some veggies from the garden. Some family stuff going on, I'm fighting a cold, and life goes on.

I should have something post-worthy soon. Stay tuned...

Ginger

Ginger, one of our buff orpingtons, died this afternoon. There was no obvious cause of death, she was just laying in the middle of the pen when we went to moved them this evening. She was only a year old, so I have no idea what happened. My son and I buried her in the woods.

It's a sad day.
